The Mogra plant is Mogra, also known as Arabian Jasmine. It is one of the most popular flowering plants in India because of its intensely fragrant white flowers.

Features

  • Small evergreen shrub
  • White, highly fragrant flowers
  • Blooms mainly during spring, summer, and the monsoon season
  • Flowers are often used for garlands, religious offerings, perfumes, and tea

Growing Mogra in Delhi

Sunlight: 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily for best flowering.

Watering: Water when the top layer of soil becomes dry. Avoid waterlogging.

Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil with compost mixed in.

Fertilizer: Apply compost or a flowering-plant fertilizer every 3–4 weeks during the growing season.

Pruning: Light pruning after flowering helps keep the plant bushy and encourages more blooms.

Common Problems

  • Yellow leaves: Often caused by overwatering or poor drainage.
  • Few flowers: Usually due to insufficient sunlight or excess nitrogen fertilizer.
  • Pests: Aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites can occasionally appear.

Benefits

  • Beautiful fragrance, especially in the evening.
  • Attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
  • Suitable for pots, balconies, terraces, and gardens.

Mogra grows very well in Delhi’s warm climate and is one of the easiest fragrant flowering plants to maintain.
